| Science Create 21 Plan This is an ambitious community plan for the creation of the most advanced hi-tech region in southern Toyohashi by bringing together industry, academia, and local governments in the Mikawa region. With the Toyohashi University of Technology providing a nucleus of knowledge and technology, a strategic base exists for creative enterprises and research groups to challenge local corporations in the development and application of new technology. The goal is to promote local industry and the local economy.

Comprehensive urban planning measures to restore the central city area include
the reinvigoration of commercial activities, and support is being given to all
projects being carried out by TMO (urban planning organization) in order to
attract unique and attractive commercial and service industries to the area.
[Top] Manufacturing Industry Since the designation of the Special Higashi Mikawa Industrial Region in the early 1960s, and given added impetus by the designation of the Port of Mikawa as a Major Port, the establishment of coastal industrial zones has advanced steadily, with the arrival of ship-building, metal, machinery, automobile, electrics, precision instrument, and chemical fiber industries etc. The Akemi and Jinno Districts have long been home to German chemical manufacturers, and in recent years European automobile and juice manufacturers have continually entered the region. The Port of Mikawa Toyohashi Area and its surroundings form a continually developing industrial region characterized by a diverse industrial make-up. [Top] |
