The International Automotive Complex Project plans to provide a place
of international business for both domestic and overseas automobile corporations.
We plan to create a gateway into and out of Japan, in the coastal region
around the Port of Mikawa, already Japan's leading port of trade in automobiles.
The following facilities will be provided.
1. Preparation of Conditions for Distribution by Land, Sea, and Air
Taking advantage of the site's advantageous location in central Japan,
ports (namely, the Port of Mikawa), highways (Tomei Expressway, Second
Tomei Expressway) and airports (Chubu International Airport), essential
to the distribution of completed automobiles and parts, will be developed
in a coordinated manner.
2. Point of Exchange for Japanese Companies and Overseas-Affiliated
Companies
This region is home to Japan's highest concentration of automobile production,
and also offers ideal conditions for the location of overseas corporations.
This new project will act as a "business point" for active interaction
between Japanese and overseas companies.
3. Regional Infrastructure for Environment-Friendly Corporate Development
Efforts are being made to enable environment-friendly corporate development, such as the establishment of distribution systems with reduced impact on the environment, or provisions for automobile recycling etc. The environment is also the topic of the 2005 World Exposition to be held in Aichi Prefecture (EXPO 2005 AICHI JAPAN), and information will be disseminated in coordination with the Expo.
